THE Y FOR
HEALTHY LIVING
We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities.
Your YMCA is Changing Lives
Below are just a few examples of how community support allows the YMCA to help all people realize their fullest potential. Every year, 250+ volunteers raise $350,000 that allows us to say Yes! to all those who come through our doors, regardless of financial circumstance. Please consider joining this worthwhile effort!

“I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how much you and your organization, PALOMAR FAMILY YMCA, has helped me during this financial struggle I now face by single handedly raising my two grandchildren.
I have an active 9 year old grandson who is very comfortable in various Y-Camps...I have a 3 year old grandson enrolled in Appleby and this is a pleasant, comfortable, learning environment for him. I never have to worry about his safety or stability because I know he is well taken care of with staff at Appleby.
I never anticipated raising my grandchildren. Receiving financial assistance allows me to keep the boys in this environment and is very much appreciated. Without financial assistance, I would not be able to participate in these programs.”

building healthy families
“The benefits that we have experienced over the past year of having our family membership at the YMCA have been great. We have enjoyed the classes the YMCA offers. MY eight year old daughter looks forward to the kids cardio class every Wednesday and has enjoyed the parents night out in the gymnastics area. My husband loves to play basketball while I work out and my three teen age boys have learned proper eating habits & healthier eating habits at the nutrition classes as well as learning proper weight lifting techniques and they have really gotten in shape this year. I lost 147 lbs back in 2006 so working out is a part of my everyday life to maintain my weight loss. The service that we have received from the staff at the YMCA has been wonderful as well they are always friendly & helpful. Thank you!”

“Through the Silver Sneaker Program. . .my husband lost 68 pounds and has kept it off by continuing in the gym. I’ve seen his progress & joined the YMCA. This past year I have had a total knee replacement on my left knee & I am facing total knee replacement on my right knee. . . I have continued my exercising after all this therapy by working out in the gym, working out in the therapy pool & have also joined in the Aerobic (water) with Cindy. I look forward to going to the “Y” and that is something for someone who doesn’t like working out. I know in order to maintain my mobility I will always be at the gym. Thank you YMCA for monetary help in order to keep us there. I can’t recommend the YMCA enough. A great big THANK YOU!”
